It is possible, subject to agreement with your teacher, to undertake certain qualifications on a modular basis. This ‘Modular Pathway’ allows candidates to train for higher level qualifications who are unable to commit to the time intensive triaining of the full Advanced Level III Qualification.

Any weapon system previously studied may be re-visited, or new disciplines introduced. Examples of Advanced systems include Case of Rapiers, Rapier & Cloak, Nunchaku etc. Once again, for examination, students have to present a fight in theatrical context with a text but the significant difference with the advanced examination is that the expectations of performance outcomes are considerably higher than at level 1 or Level 2 and the assessment is graded according to more demanding criteria. The outcomes of this course are a full and clear understanding of the weapon systems and the technical and presentational skills required to perform stage combat at professional level.

By training for each of the higher level weapon systems one at time the student is able to build a ‘portfolio’ of modules which can be eventually validated as an Advanced Qualification. This is, however, distinct from the Advanced Level Performance Certificate in Stage Combat, in which all five weapon systems of the Advanced syllabus are studied at the same time, and will be designated as Advanced Certificate (Modular Pathway).
