The British Academy of Dramatic Combat is an organisation which provides performance combat training at all levels throughout the entertainment and media industries.  Those wishing to join the Academy may do so according to one of the following categories:

 

  • FULL MEMBER

    Fully Accredited Teachers and Examiners.
    Fee: £30.00 / year

 

  • ASSOCIATE MEMBER

    Senior practitioners from the UK and overseas who do not meet the requirements of Full Membership.
    Fee: £15.00

 

  • OVERSEAS MEMBER

    Non-British nationals who hold a Fight Proficiency Certificate at Level 1 and above or equivalent qualification issued in the applicant’s country of origin (eg: SAFD, FDC).
    Fee: £15.00

 

  • SWASHBUCKLER MEMBER

    Anyone who has participated in a BADC training event or holds a BADC qualification at Foundation Level or above. You are also eligible to join the BADC as a Swashbuckler if you have a keen interest in stage combat or have a background in re-enactment, martial arts, performance or drama training.

    Fee: £15.00

 

  • SCHOLAR

    Any individual who has an academic or research interest in dramatic combat or those who do not wish to participate in the practical study of stage combat.
    Fee: £10.00

Full Members have voting rights at all formally convened BADC meetings and are eligible to stand for election to the BADC Committee.  Other members may attend BADC meetings and fully participate in discussion and debate but will not be able to vote.

All members will receive the Newsletter of the BADC called ‘Talking Points’ currently issued at least 4 times per year.  Members will also receive the benefit of a discount on workshop and training events. Full members will also receive the additional benefits of the secure members area on this website which includes a range of teaching resources, documentation and discussion forums.

If you would like to join the BADC please complete the registration form below and submit to the BADC Membership Secretary stating which category you are applying for.  Please give details of your experience and qualifications where indicated (it may be necessary to see copies of any relevant certificates where appropriate). 

All applications will be considered by the BADC Committee and applicants will be informed of the outcome, usually within one month of receipt of the registration form.
